By and large, the anti-freespeech movement—which is small—has become tired of the HRC issue. They feel they've won the argument, and that Ezra and co. are simply beating their chests to deaf ears.
The truth of the matter is that the issues has been gaining traction in political apparatuses across this country. MPs on the hill, in both the Liberal and Conservative camps are taking notice, and an ever-growing chorus of support is speaking out.
PEN Canada (website down), Canadian Association of Journalists, EGALE Canada, Muslim Canadian Congress, Canadian Civil Liberties Association, and more.
That's right, from Muslims to gay rights activists, we have a wide-ranging coalition of Canadians concerned about the abridgment of our basic liberties, and they support the call to strip these fascist Human Rights Commissions of their power over our words.
Actually, you'd be hard pressed to find any large, resounding support for Section 13 of the Human Rights Act, outside the NDP, Warren Kinsella, Richard Warman, The Canadian Jewish Congress, and a bunch of silly bloggers.
If this is the group that is going to make the last stand for fascism, then I'd say things are looking up for this country.

Call me when the PMO switches sides, or the Alberta Conservatives.
That would be right after the next federal election, when we no longer need to worry about lies, distortion, and fear mongering from a hypocritical news media that would like the HRC's to back of on speech, but would like the excorcism done by their beloved liberals.
I see that EGALE is in favor of abolition of S. 13(1).
This is significant as Richard Warman, of all folks, the guy who makes his living off of that subsection, is a member of EGALE, if I recall correctly.
Good findings; good post, Mike. Keep it up.
I don't think that Kinsella/Warman have "tired" of the issue. I think Kinsella at least, is starting to smell defeat.
And, dare I say it, he might even be starting to get the tiniest inkling of a premonition that there is the slight possibility that he might in theory be potentially backing the wrong horse.
Keep in mind that most people are not news junkies. (I've had to explain the background so often that it's down to a science.) The reaction is consistent, first shock at how the HRC works and then anger.
Remember Schoolhouse Rock..."Knowledge is Power!"
What an asshole you are, Brock. You call one of the most respected Jewish advocacy groups on the planet "fascist." You are beyond redemption.
WK tells another lie, Mike Brock did not call the CJC fascists, he implied that of all the work they do, one activity could be said to th also practiced by fascists. Why should I be surprised that he lies? He supports the most vile serial lier in Canadian political history, Dalton (the truth, I can't recognise the truth) McGuinty. Keep speaking the truth Mike, and ignore the true assholes.
Hey "wk", can't come up with anything more thoughtful than your usual gutter smears? If you are whom I think you are you seem rather preoccupied with human nether regions, refering to them frequently. Why is that?
Anyway, grow up. Do you think your infantile remarks are something to be proud of? Would you/ do you use such language speaking to your children?
Aw leave WK alone, he has to stand up and pretend he still matters. Given WK's recent history can you imagine any self respecting young liberal giving a damn about what he thinks - The man is a laughing stock and will soon be fossilized in the museum of public opinion, his time is past.
The Section 13 (1) supporters like Warman & the CJC would love for this issue to go away. The fact is that once the public is fully aware of how they have abused this country in collusion with CHRC their reputations will be toast. The CJC is no longer representative of the Jewish community, like B'nai Brith they can only pretend to speak for their imagined constituency.
geez, I wonder who "wk" is? Typical of a liberal when it comes to debating; if you are losing an arguement or don't like another person's view you just call them a fascist to end the arguement. I am just suprised he didn't uses an alias to post like his buddy lucy
Pretty pathetic commentary there, Spinsella. I'm sure you're doing your old teachers and prof's proud by such displays of churlish behavior. Would your father be proud? Would he boast of the intellectual exploits of his boy to his friends? Look in the mirror before answering those questions.
Actually, we should forgive Spinsella his petulant tantrums, he is hostage to the hate in his heart and his social inadequacies. Just as we do not get mad at a young child for making a mess in their diaper, so should we look upon wk as well, he cannot help himself. Difference is, the fecal matter comes out of the Spinsella's mouth!
Anyway, when I think of respected and reputable Jewish organizations the CJC isn't the first to come to mind....Simon Weisenthal Center anyone? Jewish Appeal perhaps? My rule of thumb is this; the more people any given organization claims to speak for is completely opposite to the actual number they do! None of our Jewish friends would give the time of day to the CJC, I know, I've polled them.
Mike, for once I find myself in (ever so) partial agreement with WK. You shouldn’t overuse the ‘N’ and ‘F’ words (er, the Fascist ‘F’ word that is. Do what you will with the other one…). While the left in general, and WK and Lucy in particular, exhibit fascist tendencies in their desire to silence opposing views, this is a long way short of real fascism. However I must admit it is a bit rich of WK to accuse others of misusing the word.
On our side we need to stick to measured language and incontrovertible facts to prevail over the emotive hyperbole of the other lot.
A fantastic article on anti-semitism and human rights from today's National Post.

"Israel Apartheid Week isn't the work of teenagers who scrawl anti-Semitic slogans on bathroom stalls. .... What has actually emerged from this pathetic state of affairs is that the CJC and the Islamists find themselves in bed together, both defending their "human rights" and playing the victim's role."
